BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE SPLASH! PHOTOSHOOT
For the photoshoot of our summer collection Splash!, there was one non-negotiable requirement: sunshine, of course! What better destination than the Canary Islands, known for their exceptional sunshine with over 3,000 hours of sun per year? Once the flights were booked and the hotels reserved, the real challenge began: checking the weather forecast morning and night. And then… disaster struck. The outlook kept getting worse by the day. But we stayed optimistic, kept manifesting sunshine with all our might, and off we went - destination tapas, sangria, and hopefully clear skies.
On the morning of the shoot, the sky was stubbornly grey despite our enthusiastic sun salutations. Still, our models bravely slipped into their best swimwear, and off we headed to the beach. Our three stars of the day: David (and we promise, he is not AI-generated), Joëlle (known from the award-winning documentary Au bain des dames), and French comedian Mahaut Drama, who needs no introduction.
In the afternoon, a first ray of sunshine finally broke through, just in time as we arrived at our second shooting location: a stunning private pool residence. The set started taking shape, the first shots were captured… Until we were suddenly asked to leave the premises immediately, despite having full authorization the day before. The reason? Still unclear. Rumor has it that David and his very small blue swim trunks may have given off the impression of a completely different type of shoot - one that wasn’t quite to the residents’ taste…
But nothing can stop us: the show must go on. So the whole team headed back to the beach to continue the shoot. Mahaut lit up the set with her glitter swimsuit, David fully embraced his role as a sun-kissed Apollo, and Joëlle, second by second, developed a very obvious crush on her co-star of the day.
It was a joyful, sun-soaked photoshoot designed to showcase our beloved summer accessories: underwater-inspired hair claw clips shaped like coral, crabs and seahorses, sweet treats like ice cream and churros prints, all topped off with a sparkling palm tree to shield us from the sun.
And that’s a wrap! A quick rinse-off to get rid of all the sand, followed by well-deserved croquetas, before heading back home.
