Juliette’s CARNET CHÉRI Journals
Share
When she’s not busy creating a thousand and one designs for Coucou Suzette, Juliette fills entire notebooks with India ink and watercolor illustrations! It’s her way of taking some time for herself and creating a personal journal in her own unique style, filled with funny anecdotes, love for her friends and family, thoughts and questions about life, or simply seasonal recipes.
What started out as her own little secret hobby became a published project in 2024, when Juliette reworked her personal writings and brought them to life in Carnet Chéri - une année dessinée. An illustrated graphic novel that follows her life day by day for an entire year, with plenty of humor, honesty and spontaneity.
Two years later, surprise! A little sister has arrived with Carnet Chéri - journal intime à l’aquarelle. The second volume continues where the first left off, but can also be enjoyed completely independently. Once again, it’s packed with wild stories, personal reflections and everyday adventures.
But where does this passion come from, you may ask? Well, it all started with her mother! An illustrator herself, she would keep her hyperactive daughter busy by spreading huge sheets of paper across the living room floor for epic arts and crafts sessions. India ink is no coincidence either. It also takes root in Juliette’s childhood, when she would watch, fascinated, as her best friend’s grandmother drew with a dip pen in her own notebooks. This precious, time-honored art form gives the illustrations their unique charm — and leaves no room for second chances. Once the line is drawn, there’s no erasing it!
The result? Unfiltered writing and drawings, with no retouching, full of color and sincerity. A truly feel-good read that you’ll never get tired of, whether you’re curled up under a blanket on a winter evening or reading by the beach in the summer sun!
