The making of our sheer socks

While Juliette, founder of Coucou Suzette, has always loved having fun with cotton sock designs, since the brand's beginnings she has also ventured into a product that was less common: sheer socks.

We love this accessory, which also offers thousands of creative possibilities and goes with every shoe, from the timeless sneaker to the patent loafers or sandals for cool summer evenings.

Our sheer socks are stretchy & resistant, made like tights with quality yarn for durability (60% polyester, 39% cotton & 1% elastane).

They have been made by the same manufacturer, Anita, since the launch of this product in 2017, in a factory located in China. We chose Chinese manufacturing for these creations because, after several tests carried out in France and Europe, China emerged as the best candidate, both in terms of know-how, quality and price.

We are therefore delighted to launch pairs of sheer socks with this trusted partner for each new collection. Creations that have always proved particularly resilient over time.

After many years of virtual exchanges, Juliette and Clotilde (General Manager) were lucky enough to be able to meet Anita in 2023, during a trip to China dedicated to meeting our manufacturers. They were finally able to get to know each other, put faces to names, and of course discover the manufacturing process of our beloved socks.

Here, the factory is similar to the one for our cotton socks in France: a large space where the various machines and spools of yarn of all colors are distributed.

There are several workstations that follow the making of the socks.

As with all Coucou Suzette creations, each sock starts from a drawing made by Juliette and simulated on the computer to get an idea of the finished product. With the advice of her teams, Juliette also chooses the yarn color, thanks to the sample catalog we have in our Paris offices, which enables us to precisely define each shade

Once the technical specifications have been defined and the tools set, we can move on to the weaving stage, carried out by a machine that knits the different yarns that make up the sock into a round tube. It takes approximately 5 minutes to make a sock.

At this stage, the sock is still open on both sides, so the next step is to sew the toe cap, passing them one by one through a dedicated machine.

Finally, the finished socks have to be ironed into their final shape, and then the packaging affixed to proudly display the Coucou Suzette colors.

And that’s it, these little beauties are ready to throw themselves at your feet and keep your sock drawer swinging all year round!
